Alaska Cruise Excursions
We understand that when most people thing vacation, they
thing of a warm sunny trip. Or perhaps it's a trip to see some
historic site. But do not in any way discount just how
wonderful Alaska cruise excursions can be. We're willing to bet
that if you go once, you'll want to go again. And it just may
become your favorite vacation ever.
These trips have become so popular that there are now
numerous companies and ships traveling to Alaska. You'll have
to make a choice, and that choice will depend on when you want
to go, and what you want to see on your vacation. Of course
your budget will also play a role.
In order to get the price down, check into going during the
off-peak season. You can save hundreds by traveling from the
end of September through November. As we've said in other
places throughout this website, being flexible is the key to
getting a great deal.
Now decide how long you want to be gone. Again this will be
determined by both your budget and the number of things you
want to see. You can book Alaska cruise excursions from 7 days
all the way up to 19 days. The longer vacation packages will
give you plenty of time on land, usually 12 days while spending
7 days on the ship. This longer trip is obviously more
expensive, but if you want it all, if you want to see large
glaciers, experience the tribal cultures, and work your way
around the inner passage, then this is the trip for you.
The most popular trip however is a 7 day cruise on the
Golden Princess. This is the biggest ship leaving from Seattle
and will take you through Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and
Victoria in British Columbia. Each port of call features a
great experience. For instance after you learn about Skagway
history, a train will take you down the mountain with shops
waiting for you to walk home with a small bit of history.
Don't know about Skagway? There you'll find the places
you've only read about in your history books. The White Pass
and Yukon Railroad are there. It was here that the gold rush
camps became so popular years ago. Skagway is located in the
mountains, and the train travels thousands of feet up, giving
you great scenic views of glaciers and unbelievable photo
opportunities.
Juneau is another fascinating location, and you can take a
helicopter ride across the Juneau Ice Field. Breathtaking is
the best way to describe the huge glaciers below. Again the
scenary is simply incredible.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg (pun intended).
There's much more to see and do. And that doesn't even count
the massive amount of activities available on the ship. Elegant
dinners, dancing, spas, comedy shows and more will keep you
busy. There is simply no other vacation like it. And if you
haven't yet considered it, it should definitely be on your
short list of things you want to do.
